Here is a hypothetical

Would you spend 6 months in another country (New Zealand for instance) and swap you house, car and boat with someone else so they could experience living in your country and you in theirs at a minimal cost

Interested in peoples thoughts

Hi Lydia

We have been there a couple of times on holidays and i would like to spend a decent amount of time there and have a good look around

As nice as the Huon is I wouldn't mind a change but at the same time I don't want to sell up here so I thought the swap for 6 months idea might be an option

For NZ, you probably want to make sure your 6 months includes Jan to May.

I would do it in a heartbeat, especially if I could cruise the MalbourghSounds or the Bay of Islands.

'misses' has a female connotation about it, better to say partner these days.
I will give the misses and throw in the house, just let me keep the boat.

Three things you never lend to your mates. Your boat, car and wife. And in that order. ??

So,
there are some on the forum want to publically rate their wives, boats, houses, dogs etc in priority and significance. Ever wonder why there are such a high percentage of males on the forum that sail alone..........

Maybe its just a coincidence, but the last four out of six issues in my real estate business were from forty plus female tenants.
Am I sexist to make this comment?

What were the issues?
Was it they didn't get out, or didn't put out ......... the garbage bins ?

Hi all

I appreciate all the less but relevant comments but back to the topic

Would you do a house, car, boat swap with someone in another country or a different area of your own country for a period of time in order to experience life there

No , we have too much crap everywhere . i would love to leave it for a visitor to trip over, and lounge around in their nice neat abode . But somehow i don't think that would be appreciated ?

Yep not a problem for me , but might be for the other party . My car is my home , my boat is my home , my motorcycle is my escape machine . Yes I do love my life ,it's by choice .?? I think a problem for some would be that most people like a place to call "theirs" and grow roots . Some are terrified of having stuff stolen/ broken etc . I used to be one of those . No I'm not living at your expense, I have a job that fortunately I can do untill I feel like holidays again . Got to love being a tradie. Now some one doing the same in NZ give me a call.

Hi Don, yes I would consider it. Have you looked at some of the schemes around on the net aimed at facilitating house and car swaps?

Hi Don, yes, seems like a sensible extension of the long running house swap arrangements. I think you'd need to be a bit flexible and accept a bit of a different standard.

Could yacht clubs be a way to arrange this?

Cheers

Yes Bristol, it could be a good scheme for yacht clubs, I like that idea. Or pitch the idea to one of the existing sites as an expanded offer?

Are you guys still sitting out the weather in Strahan?

Well, it was starting to feel like we live in Strahan. However, there's a nice 2 day window starting tomorrow, so we'll hopefully be off.

Cheers
