Hey seabreezers just stepped aboard my new boat (xyachts x442)
I have no idea how to sail it, all sorts of systems and gear that is past my level of experience
plus its huge (for me )
I'm here in Pittwater until Sunday morning. Anyone who wants to help me out teach me a few things or just help with sailing her would be much appreciated.

Think you have opened up a can of worms here in crossing to the "enlightened" side. Virtues of bolted on fin keel vs full keel, a proper rudder vs a hinged barn door hanging off a skeg, saildrive leg vs leaky shaft drive etc etc.

A very nice boat, almost identical to a First 44.7. For short handed you will need to set up with a well designed lazy jack bag system. Otherwise everything looks ready to go. Boat will have no sailing vices, manouvering under motor use moderate/firm bursts of throttle over the rudder to steer and keep enough speed for flow over the foils once moving and pull up with a burst of throttle.
Well purchased!!!
I see that a lazy jack system is included in inventory, so you are probably already covered on that one.

Andy, your boat probably has a Yanmar SD40 or SD50 saildrive leg. There have been some reports of issues with the cone clutch slipping when trying to engage gears. This is caused by glazing of the clutch surfaces, not a big issue to lap the cones if necessary and correct grade gearbox oil essential.
However if you are going to be charging all over Pittwater suggest you learn how to engage drive. With lever in neutral engage the drive either forward or reverse smoothly but firmly until drive has "clicked" in. Then pause momentarily before applying engine revs. When manouvering from forward to reverse and vice versa drop into neutral allowing prop to stop rotating before engaging new drive. Don't slam from one to the other. Only boats that I have direct knowledge of cone clutch slip had Gori hyperdrive prop that the crew would slam from reverse into forward to engage hyperdrive.

Your boat is in lovely nick and once you have mastered the systems you will be wondering what the trepidation was about. She will be a very fine cruising and family yacht, X Boats are also excellent offshore cruisers.
It will be a great boat for a great trip to Lord Howe next year. If you do want to have the option to go the BBQ is the 3rd Tuesday in November.
I suggest you reserve a mooring with the Lord Howe Island Board from the Friday before the BBQ to the Wednesday on completion, or longer if you want more time there. 5-7 days will probably be enough for you, it isn't very big but the bushwalking, diving and snorkelling are world class.
When do you plan to go home?
