A couple of boats I have looked at this week has portapottys in then instead of a manual head. Any ideas of the cost of reinstalling a manual head? Second hand would be fine

By pump out , I am referring to a holding tank.

Thanx for the response. I was thinking more of a 'real' head with a holding tank, one that could be pumped out at a marina etc or diverted out to blue water when i'm off shore. Not something that has to happen immediately, but I really have no idea of the cost other than I'd have to do it when the boat is out of the water

If the original seacocks are still there it is an easy change. Otherwise some portapottis (Dometic) have a pressurised design which can allow diversion to a tank or overboard.

Perhaps 700 dollars if sea cocks are there and you can make an off-the-shelf tank fit. You still need a fair bit of expensive hosing, valves including a Y valve over and above a fairly expensive holding tank plus brackets to hold it in place... it all adds up . And this is without the cost of the toilet itself or any labour which I assume you would do yourself.

A guy posted on YouTube how he did it on his Northshore 38 which goes under the name "The Bottom Line".

Hardest part is finding a place where the holding tank and all the hoses that must come in and out of it will fit on your boat.

If it's a common boat then others will have done it and a few enquiries or searches would be worthwhile.

I look to see if a natures head or other desiccating toilet will fit,I haven't used one but I read good reports on them.

I had a natures head in my last boat. Swapping out manual toilet from current boat for an airhead when it arrives in a few weeks. I also have 2x 60ltr water tanks per above video, Lids are swapped for different purposes - May be of interest to ACTAndy.
