Does anybody on the forum have any first hand experience of the HC boats?
I am more after info on the HC 38 as there 2 online for sale at the moment, one on the Gold Coast and one in Sydney.

I have read most of the stuff online about heavy and slow etc.

If anyone has owned a HC or sailed on one or has any actual knowledge of these 2 boats, any info would be much appreciated.

check for osmosis often bad to severe but interiors and joinery engineering excellent

My sister has a Valiant 40, acquired 10 years ago when she couldn't find a suitable HC. Similarly heavy boat with good cruising credentials.
It is fantastic. Cruise all day at 7-8 knots, comf'ortable, handles bad weather with aplomb. The HC is probably better.

To say that the Swanson 38 is not in the same league as a Hans Christian would be the understatement of the century.

@Cockpit: I'm pretty sure the 38 comes in several versions, the '38T', with the 'T' standing for Traditional; and the '38 Telstar', which has the fin keel.

The Telstar versions are rare down here but are much better performers.

Either way I'm envious, the Hans Christians are works of art.

yes I have read hours of stuff online and am very keen on them, I was just interested to see if anyone on here had actually sailed or owned one for some first hand knowledge.

sorry I haven't sailed one, but I wonder if the Sydney one is located in Burraneer Bay, and called C Star.
she is a wonderfull looking traditional HC
I beliveve the owner is a skipper on one of the tall ships in Sydney, so if you get a look at this one, I'm sure the broker there will put you in touch with him.
These boats are similar to the eligible Golden Globe yachts, so definitely not a day sailer!
