I have to replace my bow lights and currently there is no wire running inside the pulpit legs. How do I get a wire down there without taking the whole thing off so I can tilt it up and use gravity and a mouse line?

(EDIT - one forum says to use a light mouse line with steel nut and pull it down with a magnet. Interesting, but it sounds a bit dubious to me)

Where are you located Chris. If a length of old 6mm shroud could be wriggled down with a trace attached I can supply you

Google "wire pulling tape". Lots of different versions but may only be useful for straight cable runs. If you have to dogleg through a combination of vertical and horizontal then the magnet method might be better. I was lucky and had existing wires that could be used as mouse lines.

Hi Chris, it was a while ago now but when I changed over to off the shelf led fittings I pushed a bit of 6mm x 2.5mm carbon rod up from underneath. It had a bit of a loop of light line masking taped to the top so that I could fish the loop out, tape the new wire to the loop and pull it back down. The most difficult thing encountered was hitting the existing hole in the ss base plate of the pulpit stanchion. The gunwale clamp was ex 50x50 and the deck 12mm strip plank cedar. I broke two drill bits if I recall correctly.

I bought a 10 m roll of 4mm flexible irrigation poly tube from Bunnings and used that to mouse wires through various pieces of framework .

A bit left field but you could try a length of cassette tape or light taffeta string and a vacuum cleaner. Stuff a bit of tape in and suck it out with the vacuum then increase the size/strength of the string till suitable to pull cables through. Dont laugh, I've done this with a long length of conduit after some donkey pulled the draw wire out!
