Well with Facebook being down I expected some traffic on this forum this morning. This is an article from 2015 where the British magazine Yachting Monthly tried to blow up their test yacht. Ramona had a gas stove and I always liked to use it and always considered it safe. In this article, it's obvious that to have a gas explosion everything has to fall into place. There has to be just the right ratio for anything to happen.
My new vessel has a metho stove and I have become a real fan. Yes, it is a little slower to boil water but not by much. I use a lot of metho and while it's cheap I have a 4 litre bottle stored away. As far as safety is concerned I think metho has a greater chance of being a problem than gas and I make a point of staying close to the stove when in use.

I reckon metho is far safer than gas, due to its miscibility with water. That means that if a spill ignites, splashing water, or your tea, coffee or beer (not scotch!) will put it out.

The only real problem is getting spare parts for the burners!

Some metho stoves are still being manufactured, so there are spare parts for those. Sadly, not for the Maxi model. But perhaps the burners could be substituted, if the tubes and thread are the same.
