Hi all. I was previously on this site over a year ago as a new (to me) wooden boat owner: Snowgoose... sadly due to our torrential rains I had to cancel my haul outs at Woolwich Dock 4 times this year & with La Nina still hanging around I decided I'd rather sail than bailing rain water lol so I decided to get rid of the Thunderbird & bought a fibreglass boat: an Endeavour 26 named Marionette.
I'm curious if anyone on here knows of Marionette, seems she was formerly from BBYC.....?
Overall she's in good nick considering her age but of course there's work to be done ????? sail hanks all corroded but sails are in good nick, 1GM10 running good, reconditioned by seller. Antifouled this year. Standing rigging done 2019.
That being said, I'm hoping to absorb the oodles of knowledge & experience on here; I do have some questions to ask in the near future as the Endeavours are very new to me. I hope this is ok as I want to learn how to do everything with regards to repairs & upgrades. I don't like using something without understanding how it works or how to fix it.

I first sailed on a Endeavour 26 in the Gippsland Lakes. It was a long time ago, 1972/73. A good leaners boat from memory but probably not overly suitable offshore.

Sorry that Snowgoose didn't work out. The E26 are a top boat inshore or offshore - I am not aware of the history of Marionette but am sure others on this forum would. If you have a recon diesel in it and new standing rigging 2019 you are well in front. They sail very well across all wind ranges as far as I can conclude after 7 seasons sailing against a few of them at BBYC. Of course look for the obvious maintenance and repair issues and fix them.

I had an E26 for a few years, tough boat, great boat.
BBYC is the best source of info for them, check the frame for rust, and rudder for condition. Other than that there's not much that can wrong with them.
Try and get to the Endeavour nationals or do a season with BBYC.

Thankyou Mike, I'll definitely pay them a visit! I might be wrong but I've not heard too many bad things about the Endeavours, I'm already checking out a lonely, unused E28 down in my bay haha. Would like to upgrade eventually. Sadly the Endeavour forum is still down (last time I checked) too which is annoying.

Wow, that was a while ago now! I must have been 2 years old (but a good swimmer still) thanks for the info MB. Will keep you posted on the offshore part

Hi again r13 all good re Snowgoose. It was a great learning experience and I only look back on it positively. I guess if I hadn't started with Snowgoose then maybe Marionette might have passed me by. I'm happy with her, reckon I got a good, solid boat.
You've definitely seen their capabilities then! Re BBYC I still have her personalised life preserver rings with BBYC on them. I've got my mind set on joining them, if just to have her back in familiar company .
