How is the build quality compared to a Joubert baker built Brolga?

I missed out on a Magpie 34 (wanted too much for what needed to be done.) and the Brolga that sold this morning.

So the search is on again for another similar boat. Unless someone knows of another Magpie for sale.

Plenty of Duncanson 35's have done the Sydney Hobart race so I should imagine they sail well. I noticed a bit of activity around the local Brolga this week and was surprised to find it sell so quickly. There seems to be a lot of movement in the market for well priced yachts. Best bet is to just sit on your money and wait for that special boat to fall in to your lap!

Duncanson 35 is a great boat!!!!

Yea, most S&S 34s in good condition that ive seen are out of my price range. I actually haven't been on one though. Pretty boats!

I've been on a Brolga and magpie, and both have just enough headroom for me ( 6'2") to the forward cabin, where many other <35' boats don't seem to have that headroom to the v berth.
Aesthetically, I like the look of the coachroof of the jouberts and S&S more so than the sleek east coast and quite a few of the Duncansons.I also prefer the stern on the jouberts compared to the S&S34. Too pinched.

That's a really nice Brolga that has had heaps of serious money spent on her. There are a few about and they appear every now and again. Few months ago one sold for under 15 grand that had a full teak interior refit. Just be patient.

They are all my sort of boat. Just be aware if conducting safe ocean passages in a mid 30s ft boat is your intention it will end up costing you at least $60,000 and more likely closer to $80,000.

Get the best one you can afford, it will be much cheaper in the long run.

I paid $37,000 for MB in 2005. She now owes me well over double that from preparing and outfitting her for significant ocean passages, not including running costs.
