Hi All, what to do with old fire extinguishers?
There's the once in a blue moon council chemical day but I was wondering what other options there were.
A quick Google didn't uncover much.

There is always this, for those people that look straight through you when you wave.

Where I am in the Redlands in Qld I would take it to the dump. They have a section for gas bottles and pressure cylinders.

Light a fire in the backyard and try to extinguish it, job done. You either managed to put the fire out ... or not, either way the extinguisher is now empty and no longer a pressurised hazardous container. Simples! Don't try to overthink these things.

Such a great idea, on the job experience is the best way to learn.
Maybe set off all your out of date flares to start the fire, 2 birds one extinguisher

You would want to hope your extinguisher works. Otherwise your house might be a little to toasty.
