I thought I would try the diesel heater this morning.
It worked for about an hour and then died.
I had the fuel gauge on 6 and then turned up to 10.
If you look closely you can see the flame but I believe I should get a blue glow.
I will give it a good clean inside and if that does not work consider unscrewing the feel gauge as I may have a blockage there.
Any ideas?

Try running some kero through it and see if that makes it feel better.

Trade it in for some warm blankets.
Did the boat come from Tasmania or Canada?

It was designed for Merv Ward by Laurie Davidson to cruise the world.
It was built in New Zealand in 1976 with three layers of Kauri pine then insulated and glassed over.
Part of its travels included three years in Alaska.

Sounds like a good idea.
Thank you.

Ditch it. And install a new diesel heater if you really need one

The boat was built in NZ so the heater is probably British. I would suggest perusing the "Practical Boating" magazine forums or inquiring there. My mate has a diesel heater in his shed and that's pretty impressive. I would be getting that thing working looking at the forecast temperature for the next couple of days!

Hi Romona,
Thanks for that suggestion.
I don't use the heater, but I managed to get a weather window for a few hours yesterday and thought I would try it.
I will keep working on it.
My list to finish is going down a little.
We all want to finish everything yesterday but its a marathon race for me.
It alway good to take stock of what I have achieved.
Where is the 'finish line' for you?

There is no finishing line. I built the house we live in 35 years ago and it's not finished yet!
