This Currawong 30 has gone up and down in price a few times, she was sitting at $16,000 for quite awhile.
I am pretty sure someone on here was going to buy her but pulled out , so maybe didn't pass survey.
could be the near new rebuilt engine, does the bulkhead look to have rot in it or am I seeing things ?
anyone have any information on this particular yacht?

Bet you anything it has what I call "old boat smell" that creeps me out and makes me suspect rotting timber somewhere.

Sure looks like rot to me.

Either that or its iron on ply thats coming off. I did it on the Bounty back in the day .

The bulkhead is not particularly critical AFA structural strength goes, as the mast is keel stepped, and the shrouds connect down through the deck to special attachments. Yes, it stiffens up the cabin top, but it is not like a deck stepped boat, where many designs rely on the bulkhead to take the mast compression loads.

That's just some delamination of the ply veneer. Not a big problem. The good points, superb stainless steel replacement of the mast step/girdle. Good fit out for the period. Bad points, a davit and a davit with a boat on it! CQR anchor, oversized but still not big enough for holding.
Pretty good value and it's already up North!

Interesting comments about how the deck (and, presumably, bulkhead) braces the chain plates at about 17:20

A spongy deck and dodgy bulkhead cause more problems than just allowing the topsides to wobble up and down when you stand on them. They provide vital horizontal support to the chain plates, so that tensioning the rig does not squash in the sides of the boat, like it had been put in a bench vice.

I don't know how this relates to the Currawong in question, but it got me thinking that a bulkhead is a bulkhead for a reason, not just an internal privacy partition.

The Currawong was designed by engineering Prof Joubert, and is not your typical deck stepped mast design. Notice the massive cross beam at the base of the mast! The only issue would be possible crevice corrosion as the chain plates pass through the deck. One way to detect that is rust stains underneath.
