Crab traps that are placed to close to moored boats and result in damage to a boat - who is responsible for costs?
Anyone successfully got costs for damage?

I can't see how the crab pot owner wouldn't be responsible.

The last point below says it all, but most crabbers don't understand it. You could report it to your local fisheries, I have on occasion moved a trap out of my way after, of course after checking its contents

Came across a number in the channel from the Gold Coast seaway to Moreton Bay today and of course you often see them contravening these rules. If I ever have to stop for one it certainly won't be just moved. Right up there with dogs on beaches, jet skis and power boats flying through 6 knot and mooring zones...in my book. Nobody obeys the law in Australia. It's a friggin joke.

On that note today got smashed on my dinghy by a ski boat. I honestly think that boat was flying more than 30 knots in the middle of the river with moored boats on the both side of the river. Crazy..
