What type of anode would normally go here?!



The diameter on the end of the shaft is a weird 36-37mm and the spent narrow profile ring anode that I removed may have been filed or filled in with a compound.

I'm planning on filing out a narrow profile 35mm ring zinc anode to get a snug fit, unless someone knows what should go there.

This is what's on mine. I've only had the boat a few weeks, haven't had it in the water yet. No anode on the shaft but one bolted to the hull. The bolt through my anode is loose. I haven't checked what's going on inside the hull with the bolt yet, it's on a very long "to do" list.









I've just taken the rudder off to check the bearings, grease the shaft, and get better access to replace the cutless bearing. I assume the shaft will come out the back?
I'm doing this while having a break from scraping.
The long rubber gloves fill with sweat after about an hour.










Of course I had to resort to the very latest engineering principles, i.e. dug a hole to drop the rudder down.

I have a very similar set up to sotchas. No room on the shaft between prop and hull or end of the shaft and the rudder to fit an anode. So I have one located close to the prop on a through hull bolt on arrangement. My research suggested that just having this in place was not going to do much on it's own. So to connect the anode to the prop/shaft I have a length of electrical wire running from the inboard side of the bolt to a "prop strap" which is continuously in contact with the prop shaft.

If you can get an anode on the end of the shaft it is probably the easier solution.

you have to work out your prop shaft thread wit worths have several thread sizes

Rasped a little out of the guts of a 35mm diameter narrow profile anode and donged it on.
Double hammer action and continuos tightening, it ain't going nowhere!!

I hope you removed the propspeed from the nut before you put the anode on.
There is a cone shaped anode that would have gone straight onto that setup but you might have to source it through your yard.

For sure! Prop speed is silicone based and not conductive. I hit it with the sanding wheel on a drill and then cleaned the surface with with brushing thinners, then a clean dry rag.

If you know what anode needs to go there, flick us the link. I've looked everywhere and can't find a anode that is designed for that nut.

Next time seamonkey surfaces I'll be putting a new nut on like HG02 recommended.
