Are the Brolgas reasonably roomy?

That's the same one that was for sale a couple of weeks ago for 3 grand! They are a big boat compared to my Currawong from the same designer.

This one has now sold but check out the interior. Google Berrimilla Brolga 33 and look for the youtube videos.

The 4 grand one has the interior stripped out so there would be a lot of work required. Nice to see photos though.

I've owned a Currawong and a Brolga. Both great boats and couldn't be better recommended as a safe budget bluw water cruising boat.

I figure it will cost about $5000 to have her trucked up to Redcliffe so she is off my radar(unless I could get her for free), but it looks like a really good project for a guy like me who wants to build a bare bones blue water boat.

Ringle: Does the Brolga have full headroom for a 6'1" guy like me?

I think it depends on the fit out. Both the Currawong's and Brogla's have provision for 6' 2" hear room, but quite a bit of vertical space can be eaten up by a roof liner, making the floor completely flat or space for tankage. You need to check the individual boat.

My Currawong has 6'2" headroom. Makes me think that Geoff Baker, the original builder was a tall guy, as it is quite hard to get good head room in boats this size.

If you wanted to look into the feasibility further, the thing to do would be to ring a truck driver with a low trailer and experience in moving keel boats and ask which crane company they work with in the area on your end, then to ask the crane operator to come out and have a look to see if its possible. The crane operator should be able to work around trees, and advise if there are any branches on trees that need to be lopped.

It might be difficult to organize at this time of year, everyone is trying to get things done before the silly season.

I have plenty of room on the back lawn and good side access. As for the crane, it is simply a case of demolishing the neighbours carport which would allow the crane to move back next to the boat to lift it onto the grass. Easy.

Quite right! In fact I find them a shade short. If I point my toes I bump my head. At a guess they are about 6'2" in length.

I rebuilt the area forward of the main bulkhead to include a larger double v berth, removed shallow anchor well and replaced it with a forehatch. Ground tackle now stows in bow locker with a tube from that down to locker in front of mast. Whilst I've never used it, I have it there to pull the chain aft for any ocean passage.

Unlike headroom, short settees can have an easy solution - sling a pipe cot overhead. That way you can use the settee for storage.
