Bundaberg slipways are located on the town reach of the Burnett River about 500 metres downstream of the traffic bridge.

Their prices are quite reasonable and certainly a lot more economical than the Bundaberg Port Marina. Service is good and you can do your own work.

For my 30 footer, outs, set up on cradle and ins is $270.
Water blast and EPA levy is $220.
Hardstand working is $200/week.

The pictures tell the story. If anybody has $1.2 million to invest, it is for sale including the house on separate title. It has great potential for expanding it's operations. Were I 25 years younger, I would own it.

And in Syd it's about 1000 in and out plus 200 p day on hardstnd

The above are the main reasons why I live in Bundaberg.

Here at Port Huon the cost to slip on the Yacht Club slip for club members is $100 for the in and out, $20 a day while you are out and If you want to use the pressure cleaner it is $20

The down side is we only have the one slip so once someone is on it it is tied up for the duration

C'mon Cisco it might be okay for rough types like you and I but there are downsides to Bundy particularly compared to those highly desirable cities down south. For example:
- it hardly ever gets cold enough to wear that lovely black or grey business suit,
- peak hour is at school pick-up time from 3:00 to 3:15pm so you never get to appreciate to creature comforts of your Audi,
- the freshest fruit and veggies are sold from the roadside stall out the the front of the farms, we never get to go to the local organic boutique and buy little bundles of overpriced weeds wrapped in raffia,
- the beaches are never crowded so it's hard to show off the latest swimwear,
- even coastal homes sell for well under $500k so we don't have the privilege of needing to work 3 jobs to pay the mortgage,
Other than that it's not too bad here

Keep going Wander66. You might just create the real estate boom here that we have been waiting the last 15 years for.

hahaha, soooo true. Why people want to live in the big cities baffles me. shopping around for hardstands/haul outs and cranes takes some finesse to avoid being bent over...I phoned a rigger the other day....wasnt impressed by his overall attitude and persona. smarmy and smug .wont be using him for anything. Ill find someone to make my backstays. Geez may even have a go myself. amazing what you can learn on youtube/internet.
Seeing the these prices up your way make me think i might just clean by bum well before heading up and haul out up there to antifoul.

Thats what I did when I went north last Steve, only have to consider what to abandon after you have done the job.

Oh, and make sure you can live onboard while on the hard.

PS I stayed at Horizon Shores, but plenty of others to choose from.

There is no such thing. Even cheap old Negrhita is better than Bundaberg Rum. Wander66 makes a better rum than they do. Not being unpatriotic, just stating fact however they have picked up their game since the change of ownership.

Sailor Jerry's or Old J (vanilla flavoured) are my choice if I am buying rum. The local here, the Melbourne Hotel (Woolworths) which had a $4 million refurb a couple of years ago, changed the public bar into a Rum Bar with over 100 different rums. If you join the Rum Club for $30 you get the polo shirt and cap which are worth more than that anyway but you also get 10% food and drink discounts,....but that's not all. Every three months they have the Rum Club Party at which they give us lots of free pizzas and finger food plus four drink vouchers for any drinks you like.

Well, the top shelf has "Eldorado Rum" which is a demerara rum from Guyana and it is the finest. It ought to be at $125 per nip. We manage to knock a bottle off every Rum Club Party night. I have it on the rocks.

Is the slipway and the rum enough to make you want to live in Bundaberg??

Edit:- That reminds me. Wander66 promised me a bottle of his rum but I have not seen it yet.

Your rum is still in the barrel, should be just right by the time Second Wind is back in the water.

I have discovered Lavazza Qualita Oro and I love it. Deconstructing it would be a sin.

I imagine that costs about $12 in Sydney, depending on whether you select the barista with the man bun, handlebar moustache or the girl with the tattoo sleeve. I make it myself and only drink the stuff in the left beaker the rest is just filler. Sometimes the rum barrel catches my eye on the way out and a drop from the tap makes it special, actually now that I think about it there might not be as much rum in there as I think.

Don't worry about not being patriotic Cisco, last I heard Bundy Rum was owned by Vickers Gin of England anyway , I would rather have Bundaberg Dry Ginger Beer with some Bacardi OP Rum any day of the week, rather than drink Bundy Rum

Now, Now LooseChange you really shouldn't defame paint stripper that way, paint stripper usually does the job it's supposed to do after all.

Nothing to do with paint stripper, it's raw spirit; unfiltered to keep the character imparted from the rats that drown in the fermenting molassess, coloured with burnt sugar and flavoured with brake fluid, not sure if it's Dot 3 or 4 though

Rum and coffee are like boats, personal choices as to what you like and dislike.

Spending half my life now in Colombia my preference is Colombian coffee and their rum.... (cant get it here so always bring enough home to last until next trip)

But each to their own.

Can't say that I have tasted brake fluid either, I do however understand what you are implying. For those that may misconstrue my point let me be clear and succinct ... Bundy in my opinion tastes like what I imagine shyte to taste like.

With Rum, I am partial to Appleton Estate, Havana Club, Pussers .... and a few others, none of which are made in Australia.
