My Bukh DV 20 had a completely wrong sensor in it, so I've ordered the right one from VDO. However,it doesn't quite seem to fit. There was an old topic on this subject where "HG" had the same problem and ground out the thermostat cover to fit the VDO sensor. Anyone know whether that fix worked out ok, or has anyone done the same thing?

Hi CS33, you don't say where you are. My boat has a Bukh DV10. When I bought it the temp. sensor was
broken in half. I took it out and took it along to Kurt at Aquavolt. He knows all about 'em. I got a new one
and never had a problem since. Maybe give him a call and ask if you have the right one.

Hi Paul. I think my old mate HG has suffered a mishap and I haven't heard from him
for ages. I'm in Sydney and he's in Melbourne so I can't just nick over and see how
he's doing. Hopefully he still looks at the forum, if so, then he'll see your post and if
he can, he'll respond. I pray the old fella's OK.

I cant recall it in my memory but it gave clearance for the sensor and it worked.
Once other thing the sensor obtains its earth through the sensors body so it cant have any thread tape as it could insulate the sensor and there fore no earth.

And thanks for the tip regarding no tape, I'll make sure it has a good connection for the ground. The one the previous owner had in there was not designed for earthing to the engine block - one of the reasons it wasn't working!

Just as an aside mate. I have connections in Ontario. My son-in-law (who lives in Australia) is from Kitchener, on one side of Toronto and
I have two cousins who live in Colborn. ( I think that's how you spell it ) on the other side. Small world eh. I don't know where Keswick is.

Keswick is about 45 minutes north of Toronto. It's right on Lake Simcoe, a small lake but big enough for a decent sail, and on the Trent Waterway which connects Lake Ontario to Georgian Bay by canal. So we can drop the mast and motor up through a couple of locks to Georgian Bay, then Lake Huron and the North Channel, which is some of the best, most beautiful sailing in Canada.
