45 knots overnight, windows shaking.

Before boat: dreaming of riding 10m swells in Bass strait.

Got boat: waking every 5 minutes wondering if boat has rolled onto its pontoon.

Queenslanders be like "45 knots. that's not even windy"

This is me exactly. I work away fifo and last weeks Sydney torrential rain had me in frequent anxiety wondering what I was coming back to or if bilge had failed etc.

Queenslanders "45 knots is not windy"

I don't get it. When cruising I found the Queenslanders were the meekest sailors out there. Us NSW sailors had to cross bars and get hit by southerlies so we patted them on the shoulder when they told stories. We thought the Vics and the SA sailors were tough, but tougher than all were the Taswegians - they thought it was good weather when we were sheltering from the maelstrom and cringing.

I'd be pretty meek if it was so windy I had to hide my boat in a mangrove swamp and pray once a year..

Tasmania is my absolute favourite place to sail in the world.
Just not for every one.
