Yachthub and Boatsonline.
They are much more affordable than Boatsales when I last looked into it and they have a deal going where you can advertise on both websites.

Boatsales for me i just sold my boat in about 4 months on boatsales it cost $450 ish but the add lasts till you sell and you can add pics or comments at at any time.

What about AFLOAT, mag and online

IMHO going the private sale route depends on your personal skills and time available. Also, some buyers prefer to avoid brokers. The broker needs to inflate the price in order to pay his/her commission.

These days market value is an issue for much debate. In the end it comes down to waiting for that balance between buyer's and seller's expectations. Brokers have told me that they often have sellers who have unreal expectations of what their boat is worth. "The boat owes me $x " is a common misconception.

The ultimate judge of market value is E-Bay or similar auction sites, however the short time window of an auction will serve to depress the price somewhat.

I look at eBay and Gumtree for boats that are going to sell. Yachthub for boats the owners are planning on sitting on awhile but will sell when that one special person comes along. Afloat magazine for a bit of a laugh at what people think their boats worth! The market is depressed and it will stay that way. Reserve bank has the interest rate down to 1%. This is creating hardship for self funded retirees and their knee jerk reaction is to get rid of their toys. There are still plenty of yachts selling but they are always really good buys. Composite VDS 34 came on the market recently in the morning as I was shutting down the computer. I thought I would share the info on here in the evening but it had sold!
Keep an eye on that SS34 for sale in Kadina and see how that goes. Kadina would be a lot harder to sell a yacht at than Sydney. Put an ad on Gumtree, it's free and you will see exactly how many people look at it.

The number one thing is the ad itself.

So, make a really really good ad.
Every photo (close ups of shiny self tailing winches) must be perfect.
The blurb should be a pleasure to read, not a list or drone.
Then post it on every available site.

And if you don't believe me. take it from Taj

I agree. Lots of photos and good ones. I hate it when people post 10 photos and 5 of them are the same angle but just at different ranges! Make a Youtube video and include some drone stuff. But most importantly have some photos of the yacht actually sailing.

In Morningbird's case that excellent video, the directors cut to Lord Howe should be linked in the ad. The good brokers are using video and there is no reason now not to.
