Edited this video for my mate. First 15 seconds seems blurry but then clears up. Mavic drone flown by his mate ashore in his backyard in Gerringong. The drone operator is certainly skilled. This is the alloy Cole 42 bought off eBay from Jonathon. Sails by Tony Bull [Galatea]

Nice! Sorta looks like the boat is slightly bow heavy. Digging the nose a lot.

There are two CQR's on the bow and he has some chain in the anchor locker. He is sailing solo. This yacht was designed in the period when the crew sailed boats from the cockpit area. Even sitting at the mooring there is a slight bow down attitude, the designer has allowed for probably 800 kg of ballast [crew]. He has a spade anchor under construction and I'm trying to convince him to build an alloy spade and keep the weight out of the ends.

Good stuff Ramona, well explained. Sailing solo like this into choppy seas would be wet and slow I guess.

Great to see her up and about, raced against her from the CYCA in the early 80's for a couple of years and then she disappeared, her whole crew moved to another boat. She reappeared about 10 yrs ago in a sad state and have seen her in various places around the harbour and then she disappeared again obviously into your mates hands. She was no world beater but would make a spectacular cruising boat with the massive volume that era had and their all round performance. She looks like she has plain ally top sides now, looks good. Her new owner has done a great job!

Most of the old IOR boats of that era would sit bow down due to the rules of that era so they could get a lower rating, from memory I think because a shorter LWL, given the stern shape, Chris would probably know.

I do a bit of the same for WA yachts....PM me. Take the file to someone like HN and get the pictures printed on canvas. Some online mobs will do landscapes up to about 1.5m wide.
