Boat 19 feet on WL.... pretty gutsy for a 83 year old, who has completed similar voyagers when younger.

As a 79 y/o who sails solo on the GC and has no intention of stopping I take my hat off to him .

In the sailing community in Japan, Horie is Slocum, Tabarly, Chichester and Moitessier rolled into one.
But as a national (elderly) hero Yuichiro Miura is it.

I recall reading his crossing in the early 60s in some magazine which had plans of his boat Mermaid and built a small balsa sheet model of it. His deck shoes then were thongs iirc. Good that his deck shoes and boat has evolved - unbelievable effort on both trips.
