Got to give him the bad news!

Southerly 23, designed by Don Lees who also designed the Compass 28 (originally called the Northerly 28; others in the range were the Westerly 27 and Easterly 30) and 29. A lovely little boat, built by Compass Yachts and also in NZ.

The Southerly hull was given an extra few inches of freeboard and sold as the Pacific 707 a few years later.
