Out sailing last week and the topic of books came up.
I reeled off Slocum, Chichester, Lewis and so on.
Then novels like 3000 pages of Patrick O'Brian, Alexander Kent and Luke Rhinehart's Long Voyage Back.
My Canadian crew, Lorne, then mentioned Trustee from the Toolroom.

What? Says I.
Nevil Shute's last book which was published after he died and went right under the radar.

Nevil Shute? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nevil_Shute
Quite a C.V. Flying, War experiences, aeronautical design and what not, but no mention of sailing.

I will not tell you the scenario of Trustee from the Toolroom.
Just that you must read it. I am making it my mission to introduce as many sailors as I can to this (free) book.

Download from here in a variety of formats and please get back to me with your opinions.

I love books! Thanks chaps, always keen on new recommendations.
One of my all time favourites...'Close to the Wind' by Pete Goss, just an awesome read.

It was after reading Trustee From the Toolroom that I went on to read ALL of Nevil Shute's book. I'd have to say that he is one of my favourite authors, and I read a lot.
By the way, his book "On the Beach" will change your life.

Riddle of the sands - Erskine Childers and Sailor Song by Ken Kesey of Cuckoos nest (no real sailing, but lots of boats). And the Patrick O'Brien series, read them, just start and keep reading them.

Good movie too,
Though anything with Gregory Peck in it is good,

Ava apparently wasn't all that impressed with Melbourne...so the rumour/ myth goes.
