My sister has asked if I could go with her to deliver her Valiant 40 to Sydney tomorrow. Is the Pope a Catholic, of course I can. A forecast westerly at 15 kts and clear skies. Woohoo.
Departed RMYC at 0730, arrived Spit Bridge about 1200. Hit 8 knots. Max wind maybe 18-20 near Long Reef. Great day on the water in one of the best cruising yachts ever made. My sister and the brother in law might join me and Havefun for Lord Howe on my boat. If they can't make it Cisco has put his hand up. Their boat, Mischief (what a great name for a boat) is not quite ready for such an offshore passage. As they live aboard it is a great home but will need a bit of sorting before going seriously out into the oggin.
Yes, I see what you mean Hugh Grant. Here is a work in progress I found. My brother has a Pacific Seacraft Mariah, which is a beautiful boat somewhat similar to this one but smaller.
They are one of the all time classic cruising yachts. Hers is one of the first 20 built that don't have the blister issues of later boats. The two of them have restored, modified and nurtured Mischief to be a wonderful live aboard. A bit more work on mast and rigging and she will head out on a world cruise. It isn't my desire to take this path but I still somewhat envy their doing it.
