I asked for certificate or test information on the chain from RTM approx 18months ago. At the time they couldn't provide any documentation. I moved on.

Not really, sorry. They did have a spec there and the breaking strain of the 8mm long link (bit lighter per meter than short link but same breaking strain) is way over spec for my trailer sailer so I just bought another 10 m to augment the 11 meters which I bought last year.
They were pretty sure it's Chinese but unlike the situation with my heavier keel yacht - which also takes 8 mm but short link- it isn't doing a lot of work and doesn't have to cope with a winch gypsy. I paid a few bucks extra for a black 2 ton rated gal trailer type shackle to join it to the other length as I think that (when wired) is more positive fixing than a link which is just hammered down (and hence has thinner bits). It doesn't have to fit a gypsy so no problem pulling it up.

8mm general link chain $5.95/metre, no extra discount for a drum of 37m.

Sale on for another 6 days, thus Sunday??
