Might take some finding but there have been some postings on this site about outhaul ideas Aus 230 had a natty lever setup if I remember right
I tried a cam setup on my class 5 but finished up with an internal multipurchase pulley arrangement with an internal bungee return Worked Ok and it had a clam cleat under the boom The internal travelling car had wheels from a skateboard Quite a few others have this arrangement The bungee going forward needs to be Very Strong to ensure it returns properly
Hi John, This is what I came up with. Got the general idea from the Stanley mitre unit. I'm sure you have one. I tried to make it with 4 tooth settings originally but found 2 were enough. The third is when fully released. I' sure you could come up with a tidier version than mine. I plan to make another from stainless once I am happy with the design.
Looks practical and adjustable with the hose clamps It could be an idea to have a clip to hold the lever in the rear position as well to stop in flailing around
Thanks for the idea's. I mounted my adjustable out haul in front of me underneath and in front of the center sheeting. It's only a two position out haul. I haven't sailed with it but I think it will work. 1'' aluminum angle 7 1/2'' long. Knob is 1/2'' diameter solid aluminum rod. The amount of pull varies where you tie off the rope. 2'' to 3'' pull. The rope goes to the rear of the boom, around a sheave to the sails out haul grommet. The angle works well because the holes can be off set easily forcing to want to stay put. I left the side opposite of the knob 2'' long to not allow the unit to spin completely around. video of it functioning - www.facebook.com/groups/556826031132604/
