2015 WA Land Sailing Titles

24 & 25 January 2015, Lake Walyungup An open event for all classes

1. Eligibility and Entry
The event is open to all land sailors, both club affiliated members and non club members from WA, Australia and internationally. Please note that non club affiliated members without insurance will sail at their own risk. Alternatively, temporary event membership to SLYC or PBS is available on request.

Registration forms (see below) must be lodged by 20 January 2015. Late entries can only be accepted at the discretion of the Race Committee.

Race registration fee is $40 plus $15 for an additional class (includes transponder hire).

2. Racing Rules
The Racing will be governed by the official Race Committee under the applicable authorised Land Sailing rules. Race protests must be lodged within 30 minutes of the conclusion of a race and will incur a $20 protest fee.
3. Race Classifications a. Class 5 b. 5.6m - Minis and Blokarts

4. Schedule
Winds permitting, racing will commence noon Saturday 24 January and will conclude Sunday 25 January by 7:00pm. Scrutineering will be conducted from 9:00am to 11:00am Saturday 24 Jan. The pre-race pilots meeting for all entrants will be at 11:00am sharp on both days.

5. Race format
The race format may be changed without notice at the discretion of the Race Committee. Class 5 will use a standing start, 5.6m Minis and Blokarts will use a rolling start. Scheduled for 12 races per class over the two days, with a minimum of six races per class. Strict marshalling and starting rules will be maintained and a two minute dial up applies to rolling starts, with a three lap race of approx 10-15 minutes per race.

6. Scoring and results
An electronic timing system will be used for the 5.6m Minis and Blokarts races, requiring a transponder to be attached to each yacht. Class 5 races will not use an electronic system and thereby transponders are not required.
Low points system will apply, first has 0.75 point in Class 5, or 1 point for 5.6m Minis & Blokarts, second has 2, third is 3 points etc. The winner of each class is the pilot with the lowest points. A DNS (Did not start) and DNF (did not finish) will accrue points equal to the number of competitors plus 1.
A discard race is a race that can be dropped from the scoring, being the worst scoring race from the series. The first discard is after five races and then another after completion of a further five races. EG – 6 races = 1 discard, 12 races = 2 discards.
If there is a series score tie in a class, each race score shall be listed in order of best to worst, and at the first point where there is a difference the tie is broken in favour of the best score. No discards shall be used.

7. Disclaimer and liability
Competitors participate in the race entirely at their own risk. The organising authority will not accept any liability for material loss, theft or damage, personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during or after the race.

Please pm me with your email address and I will forward a entry form.
Cheers

great weekend with buckets of wind. top effort to all the competitors and some great new talent that is coming on.
chook was putting bigger sails on whilst we were reefing down. !!!!!! brilliat to see how good a race machine he has become.
great to see a new talent called Steve elliot . he was racing a perf. blokart and simply sailed great races . very consistent and the closest i ever came was second behind him..
it was amazing to see how the blokart fleet has improved thier racing skills in the last 12 months. having an intesive fortnight of racing last year has really had an impact. in the past the minis would simply sail away in a race but this time I recon it was either a mix or tending towards the blowies being the better fleet . one race would see top5 being minis( plus steve elliot) then the next race would be dominated by blowies. very interesting to watch
no pics from me, didnt even have time to get out the camera
good luck to phil myles for the rest of the season as he will be wetting his pants in my class 5 for the rest of the season

Had a fantastic time there.
This was so well organized and a huge thanks to everyone involved in any way.

Can't wait to return next year and catch up again with the folk that I met.

I found this on my way home at Dumbleyung. A mock up of Sir Donald Campbell's Bluebird. It was the 50th anniversary on New Years eve.

On December 31st 1964, after breaking the world land speed record in Lake Eyre, South Australia and with only hours to spare, Campbell broke the world water speed record on Lake Dumbleyung in his jet propelled hydroplane boat, Bluebird. At a speed of 276.33 mph (444.71 km/h).
This gave him the two world records in the same year – a feat that has never been achieved before or since.

The State Championship was a great success with plenty of action taking place on Saturday in the strong winds of the day, Sunday was a difficult day with the wind being light and dropping to zero in some races.
The Blokarts put on a great show in the 5.6 events more than matching it with the 5.6 mini. (except for Chook who was matching it with every one. Well done Chook) The 5.6 was a great class to be competing in.
The class5 events were dominated by Paul and Graham And I could not make any headway on these two during the event. (Well done guys)

Results Class5
1st Paul AUS3
2nd Graham AUS20
3rd Vic AUS230

5.6 Results
1st Chook AUS240
2nd Vic AUS230
3rd

Steve AUS45 (Blokart) Was the Best of the 5.6 event cleaning up in most races.
