ya better send me a copy of the plans if we are building that 4 wheel bleriot. you could build the wheels with regular 20 or 24" rims but use fatbike hubs to build a wider hub base. or even a custom hub . if we are gonna race we'd better get some paameters gpoing. maybe i could start with all pulley sheaves to be wood!!!!

at the moment I would have to send my shed floor, I always work with full size plans but will post a drawing as I go.

The wheels that are supplied are from motoworks I will get rid of the nobs. Wheels $96 each , Today i started a 4.4m hollow wood mast and cut the body timber to size

Not a lot done. started rounding mast, built it 4.5m long, not sure what length it will end up being. I will give it a couple layers of glass.
Have to make up a few steel pieces now for the rear axle turning, and some attachment brackets.

I think glass will be against the rules when we write them vic.
The mast will be stay supported, and never bent like a modern rig, the shaping is done by the gaff.
my schooner has 15' masts,75mm diameter, carrying a 15 gaff main and a 6m staysail , all unstayed.
stayed you could have a 50mm section

Today finished sanding the mast to shape, Made up the frame segueing brackets, and the rear wheel support steering bracket. still have to fit the steering pin retainer to that part, there is a lot more parts on this yacht than I first thought. going to be an interesting build.

Have you still got that schooner Paul ? Have you put up any pics anywhere ? Always loved those things
but only remember seeing one in the flesh. A folding Bolger 31 footer I think

yeh, hats what I have got. looking to sell though as im in the wrong part of the world and the crew grew up and left home .
. we used the rig to build a 2 masted Barque to sail in the local christmas parade. fitted the whole club on board

Progress

Tacked the front and back axles together, Lined up the mast support and will tackle that next. Don't look at the messy shed it get's used

Cool stuff aus230. Both your build and the history. I thought this was funny "Wheel motorcycle or bicycle rust quickly and easily déjantent, he had the idea to replace them with wheels Ford T in strong and lightweight wood."

Vic , we are finishing our day, and sitting down with a beer ,switching on to see the progress. dont fail us . this is gonna look soooo good when the advertising posters appear in high end magazines and airport duty frree's around the world

Today, Made all the mast and front axle bracing, have to attach all the attachment lug's for those parts. Have to chase up some steel to lathe up the stub axles. So many parts to this build.

Remember that I've still got some old white sail cloth here off an old yacht Vic.
It's by no means clean and new, but flick me the dimensions and I'll see if I can get a nice piece out of it, to sew up for your sail.

Slowly getting there Vic. Spent the afternoon on it.
Most of the time was unpicking bits from other sails to reinforce it.
It has dyneema cord in all three edge seams to strengthen them and for adjustment later on.

Downhaul reinforcing, heavy stitching and eyelets to go. (Found out that I've run out of brass eyelets, so will have to chase some up.)

It's a 16' luff and 11' boom and 88square feet. 8.12m2.
It's nearly as big as my mini's sail Vic. (8.4m2)

Here I am being scared of a 7 meter sail.

I guess it steers from the stern?

4 wheels tandem are dangerous to sail because of rear steering.
Mine main chassis is consolidated with steel in order not to flex.
