i was thinking you guys experimenting with suspension etc all seem to be putting the shocks etc behind the steering stem or before/beneath the mast step....has anyone tried a leading link suspension type setup ala ural motorbikes or honda cubs etc? Seems more simple to me to have the travel on the fork and leave the stem and mast step areas to be beefed up for strength? Sorry no pics to explain but google leading link suspension and youll see what i mean. The link arms on a cub are small enough to work nicely on a yacht too

Here is what is left of what I think you are talking about My attempt at front sprung forks years ago on my class 5

The idea at the time was to try and stop the front wheel hop on the turns which made for bad steering and some rather exciting
episodes which at times were dangerous The spring elements were made up of carbon sailbatten parts and the damping was
done by adjustable friction on the pivots [ not shown] It worked ok as a sprung front end but it did not improve the wheel skipping that much and it was removed when the yacht was converted to a fatter front wheel as a further experiment to deal with
the turning problem Yacht was sold before I tested that theory unfortunately and new owner preferred the original skinny spoked Bmx wheel mainly for its cooler looks I think

Thats roughly the same i think. The setup i mean would use say, the std. bmx style fork with a shock mount welded to the upper face of each leg. The wheel mount on the fork would house one end of a 3-holed plate. The centre hole would be the lower shock mount, and the end hole would be where the wheel axle bolts through. The shock then fixes between the holed plate and the mount welded to the fork leg.... like the cub suspension setup below
