Just to support the others, from your base at Perisher, I'd be trying for the top of Charlottes. Take the chair to the top and and walk over the range heading south east. The world is your oyster!!

A couple of years ago we took the overland cat which can also incorporate a lift ticket at Charlottes Pass. We had a ball

.
In more recent years we have gone to Thredbo. We have caught the chair to the top and then launched our kites about 400m from top station in a SE wind or walked or in my case used my alpine touring skis (similiar to cross country but can also lock in the ski boot) to get to higher ground NW towards Seaman's Hut or SW behind Ramshead range. All these areas are absolutely superb in most winds.
Last year we caught a SE at 12 knots from top station and were on top of Mt Kosciuszko in 25 minutes!!!

. That was a real buzz!

We hope to go up in August sometime, but not sure when yet.
