Hey I'm looking into having a crack at snowkiting this year and was after some advice on what board to get as i have no idea .
I was looking at something i can use on the mountain as well.
Ne 1 got ne ideas?

Also ne 1 know if my 10m will be ok for the job and ne good spots to hit up in nsw or vic?

Mate you'd be better off on skis if you can ski as most places ive been told about involve a walk in/out. Hire a set of touring skis and away you go.
Hotham or top of Thredbo seem the best bets. I was down last week and there aint nothing around yet. Guthega seems a possibility if the direction is right or its ski in there as well.

set your bindings up duckfoot is a good start

shape - ideally a longitudinal true twin. (boards like yes. tgdh isn't a twin heel to toe but is a sweet deck)
but a twin is fine.

setup - centered duck 8 - 15 (personal preference)

some people say to go a wider stance but if your board is flat or cambered between the feet it can effect it's flex/edging.

I like a board rockered from underfoot to tip (less hang ups and able to set upwind angle by weight on front foot in good snow)

but cambered between the feet for grip on ice.

and I tune the edges as such for bite between the feet and and dull from foot to tip.

if your trekking in or out (anywhere in Aus) you'll need snowshoes or a splitty.

prior AMF is the only true twin splitty I know of on the Market.

sp make a sweet light "pervert" or rear entry binding if that's your bag

spark r&d make trick light bindings and crampons for voille/prior splits if your cashed up enough.

k2 and ride (same company) seem to be pretty popular

ride machete - flat between feet rockered end and come in nice wide models for no heel drag.

k2 turbo dream - similar but slightly directional

serrated edge boards for Aus icy conditions include

both these are a rocker/camber combo where most serrated edge by the big names (lib tech, gnu etc) are just rockered.

saying that not sure how a serrated edge board will hold up and suspect it could have delamination issues. I'm planning on getting a yes the dudes board and "borrowing" snowshoes from work as they've got large volume ones that'll fit my snowboard boots. will be working 3 weeks on 3 weeks off at jindy and will try to hit thredbo top for day sessions and maybe acouple of 2-3 nighters at horsecamp hut to hit the rolling grounds or a stay at charlottes. will let you know how a serrated edge holds up.

another true twin splitty but this one is flat between the edge so prob not as good as the prior on icy condition.
