Was watching the WEBCAM at Scarborough which had several kites on the water and tons of white caps S-SW. At the same time SE at Woodman point and very little wind at all.

If you got out out today your luck was in!

Lano went off today, most consistent swell for long while. Breaking across the bay very windy, like someone flicked switch. Guess crowds will start tomorrow for LOC weekend

Got out at leighton. Nicely powered on the 9m for 15 mins. Wind started dropping and I sensed something was up. Just made it in, then the wind went bolt off-shore and pretty much stopped. So got lucky twice!

Downwinder fail! Swannies to Trigg. Was plenty of wind when we left trigg and drove south. Little less wind at swannies. Put the kites up and they alll fell out of sky just at the start of the nudie beach. Waited for the wind to come back but it never did. Had to pack away the kite and wind up my bar right next to Naked Santa Claus. Then had to hitch hike back to trigg. Lucky for us a fellow kiter (ed) cheers mate, picked us up. I guess in the future we need to trust the wind meters more. It was 23 knots at rotto, but only 12 at swanbourne and even less further south....

If this happens a couple of times you soon get proficient at interpreting the weather forecast.

If there’s a strong Easterly forecast for the next morning, your seabreeze is on borrowed time.
