Hi, just wondering if anyone with a lot of kiteing experience could possibly give me some lessons doesn't matter if your not IKO, because the IKO guys are so expensive cheers

+1 for proper lessons .. at least 2 .. preferable 3 ... would make a great early xmas pressy !! ..

re the cost its absolutely worth it to get a good instructor ..

.... if you get in to kiting it will give you millions of $$ worth of enjoyment .

Certainly not trying to rain on your parade at all, cause once you're "in", you won't look back.

I'm hyper sensitive to safety issues today (go here for more info in case you haven't heard already: www.seabreeze.com.au/forums/Kitesurfing/General/very-serious-accident-phone-box-cott/ ) - this tragedy happened to an experienced kiter with many yrs experience.

Getting someone 'cheap & nasty' to teach you (or a mate) is a recipe for potential disaster IMO. Proper lessons will go a long way to minimising any potential disaster - and we don't need any more.

Shop around, you can find decent outfits that won't charge an arm and a leg for lessons. Bear in mind that you will still be up for a few hundred dollars, minimum. Kitesurfing is a potentially dangerous sport, as someone who learnt and took lessons last year, I'm still ultra careful during setup and launch as I know those are probably the most dangerous windows.

Kitesurfing is risky, more so than Windsurfing which I've done for years. There's FAR more potential to be a danger to other people, whether they're pedestrians or other kiters/windsurfers. You need lessons from accredited teachers to learn adequate control and an understanding of the safety systems, or you'll be a danger to others.
