My advice would be to get a zephyr membership. Having transport, support, shade, water, and good crew is well worth the money. I hope you missus kites because there in nearly nothing else to do. Great destination though, had a great time.

If you are looking for a cheap holiday, then Cocos is probably not for you.
You may have an awesome trip to Cocos, but you will not have a cheap one.
$1000-$1200 each for return air fares be fore you start (+ more $$$ for excess baggage)
If you do go, take a foam container full of food. A lettuce will cost $12 from the co-op.
You also have to hire a car to get to the kiting spots.
Admittedly, having a mate with a house on the island made a big difference for us so I can't quote about accommodation prices.
Non kite surfers will want to be into surfing or relaxing. This is not resort style relaxing tho, it's DIY. No fancy pool side bars to relax by.
This tends to keep the numbers down which is not a bad thing :)
Add all this up and the Zephyr deals are probably not too bad,but I'm sure others will have more info on their operations.

yeah for 14 days flights accomidation come in at just over $2k wich i think is pretty good. the gf said zephyr membership is abot $700 wich we think is a bit steep. The girlfriend is into kitesurfing still at the early stages of learning cop and ear full of abuse every now and then when she has a bad day on the water
think it will be a great spot for her to realy improve

I've got friends who have lived there for years and have recently returned down south. As soon as I told them id started kiting there hackles rose up. They told me some stories of kiters heading to the island with or with out tour guides making f wits of themselves. On and off the piss! Aussie and non Aussie. Not good.

great place to stay. Not sure if still the case but the guy who owns kites and is a really nice guy.

we hired a car for our stay (which is expensive), which you really need if not paying zephyr. Also gives you flexibility to do other stuff on the island, plus go to kite beach when you want.

Generally, if youre not with zephyr you rig up further up the beach where the "yacht club" is
