Howdy WA, planning a little domestic trip end of March, start of April. For various reasons, I have the choice of Port Douglas or "WA" (the latter, I note, is a slightly bigger land mass).

I've had a look at the BOM average wind speeds etc, and seems there is some wind over this time, but keen to hear what it's really like?

Is it a safe bet for a Kite trip, or does it tend to be quite hit and miss, or offshore etc.?

Thanks in advance.

can be still pretty damn good in March / April, however if there is a big cyclone coming through the Pilbara coast (up mid / northern WA) it can set up a trough which kills the wind down around Perth / Lancelin.
But, if you're flying in from the east coast and thinking about Lancelin, that means you have wheels. And so if you can drive to Lancelin, you can also drive to August (3.5 hours south), or to (Geraldton 4 hours north), and somewhere in that 800km of coastline you're gonna score something.

Thanks Danno. And yeah, will have wheels.

Really appreciate the local insight. I was there Nov last year and had a whale of a time (note I did not see or was looking for, a whale).

Can't wait for the next one....

Salty as you know, no guarantees but we do normally get a few good days a week that time of year.
We've not had the best season so far but has certainly come good.
Check out the Midwest forecast for Gero for the next week, plus we normally beat the forecast by 5 knots when it's a seabreeze.

If you make it to Gero send me a pm. I enjoyed your learning thread as I was learning at the same time.

As mentioned earlier if you be flexible, follow the forecast if you can.

Have a good one!

You will still get days to kite in Lano around that time but the best will have definitely passed by then.

Thanks Dave, appreciate the support and info... I had a great time in WA last Nov and can't wait to go back.

Yeah, that learning thread had legs eh! And the good news is: I get to do it all over again as I try and learn to surf on a directional as opposed to using the twinny in flat water!
