I live in Warnbro and just started kiting. At this stage I don't intend doing so but further down the line is there any reason why I can't kitesurf in Warnbro sound? Wind direction looks good, not always choppy but never see anyone there.

What do you think?

Totally fine and there are a few who kite the sounds. Mostly those who live in Warnbro and kite over to the pond or Shoalwater, as the sound is rather choppy. You get a bit of small crappy wind swell/waves when it is nuking. Fine to play around in if you are not too fussy. But for most who are on twin tips the sound is too choppy. Which will be the only reason you hardly see anyone kiting there. Plus the tagged resident shark. But they are everywhere.

Heya, its worth downloading the Windyty app, that way you"ll be able to check out wind direction relative to the land. If the wind has too much S in it, you'd probably get wind shadow/messy effects from Port Kennedy.

Kitesurfed the sound a bunch of times, I live near Michael St and find on most days I can easily cut from there to the pond and back on my twin tip, any further south would require a few tacks to get back.

Be be mindful of the wind close to shore with the dunes, within 200m of the dunes it does some weird things. Had a perfect run from the pond all the way across then as soon as I got too close my kite fell out the sky, went back out and fine, came back in fell out the sky again, had to do 45degree down wind to get into shore. Also had the opposite, massive gust come through, picked up and then hit the water hard, ended up with a concussion and dislocated ribs, lucky the kite kept me above water so I didn't drown while i came to.

My suggestion is get offshore quickly and stay out there until you need to come in, then be cautious on the last 200m. Also if you start from just south of Michael Rd there are no powerlines to worry about.
