Hello,

I am Planing a one month trip to WA. I live in the states and this will be my first time to WA. I arrive in Perth 7 Jan and plan on taking the month working my way north to explore the coast. I am a fairly experienced kitter on both waves and flat. I am looking for advice on what mode of transportation would be best. At this point I am looking into renting some sort of pop top caravan. Would a 4x4 be worth while on this adventure or are most roads decent to the kite spots? It is just myself traveling looking to make friends. Any advice at all on where to find the right vehicle would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Kyle , in Jan and Feb there are some great kite spots south of Perth as well .eg Margaret River , Augusta and Esperence so head south as well as North if u have time ..

Re vehicle ... Seems to me that all of the overseas kite travelers are in small 2wd campervans. Most of the "popular" kite spots are accessible with 2wd. So it depends on whether you mainly want to kite or if u want to get off the beaten track and check out out some amazing beaches etc...

Craggers is right there are some fantastic spots to check out with 4wd but I think if you only here for a month and you want to be kiting everyday then a 2wd campervan will do ..

Hey Mate,

you'll have an absolute blast kiting here, tons of great spots once you get out the city. Perth is great if you can beat the crowds. Lots of great spots up north towards gero. Lots of great spots down south also.

Give me a shout when you get here and I'll show you some places me and mates have gone, happy to share the thrill.

Wow...thanks for the response guys....I was planning on making it to exmouth is there much more worth seeing further than that? 110 degrees!! Better bring a fan for this campervans. Ha!
