Any weird weather systems going on to ruin the fun or is it looking like a potentially good season?

You can keep track of weather systems here: www.bom.gov.au/climate/enso/

So far, looks like nothing out of the ordinary apart from warmer than usual sea temps.

I think the bigger issue is more frequent heat waves. This might bring longer seasons but more 40'C. days during the middle of the season which, as we all know, means no sea breeze in Perth.

If those warmer than usual water temps are close to the coast we're gonna be in for a bad sEason as most of our stock standard 18-22 kn sea breezes are thermal. Here's a bit of info on thermal sea breezes for those that are interested:

Personally I reckon that this summer will be really hot this year. This will have an effect of increasing easterly morning winds inland along the scarp. This will in turn push the sea breeze back making them less effective and later in the day. The land eastward hasn't really heated up yet so the sea breeze conditions are currently good but as the summer kicks on the easterly winds will start to out blow the Fremantle doctor. Also the Pond is literally closed off and I believe the council is not going to dredge the channel open. So, that will be a no go zone once the place becomes anoxic. Sorry for my pessimistic outlook. I suppose the poleys can have the pond all to themselves now

I'm afraid you could be right especially If we start to see heatwave's in November in Perth like we have before.

Is it just me or does the wind seem super flukey so far. Not talking about gusty per se but more so long lulls and heaps of 'holes'.
