Anyone know of a wind meter/anemometer placed in clean air between City Beach and Trigg that we can hook into?

If not, would anyone want one and contribute some change towards one? Crowd fund it thing for one of these stations.windguru.cz/? City Beach tower looks ideal to me

Do you think it's needed ? We usually just estimate half way between the Ocean Reef and Swanny readings.

In fact, for downwinders you can almost get away with just looking at the colour and going big/ medium/ small accordingly - ie 12+/9/6. Might be a bit different for the twin tippers looking to hold ground, although there's not that many of them on this stretch of coast.

No it's not needed but the swannie meter is not in a good spot so during winter on those marginal days it doesn't throw useful information. A better reading will help you decide wether you should bother or not.

We were standing on the beach watching the wind blow maybe ~18knots 200m offshore the other day (you could see a visible line) and maybe 12knots on shore, cross. Other times it's been a N and if you don't know if it's rideable unless you go down to the beach

Contacted the council re the City Beach Watch tower - no go anyway due to safety and for it's historical significance..

Anyway, moving on

True. Cbulota and I usually kite often over winter, if it's S thru Nthly we foil at Pinaroo, he has also been doing some downwinders on the storms. Anything E is a waste of time on the beach.
