I have always been impressed with the generosity and camaraderie amongst kiters. Loaning kites, swapping boards and the general help to beginners makes this sport great. So today it was much to my surprise when some backpacker guy asked if he could borrow my pump down at Point Walter, and then he stole it. Prick!

Why didn't you just say no..

this way disappointment would have been averted

This is the standard trick employed by Frenchies who come to Australia...

Bonjour
May I borrow your pump
Au revoir!

Let me guess.............Euro touro?

Never trust them........... never welcome them.........you'll eventually be burned by them

Name and shame..... Details what they look like, accent, kite etc..........They'll show up somewhere round the traps and appropriate treatment will be dished out

I heard of a guy buying someone completely new lines, just because he was asked nicely...

At the end of the day it is just a pump but yes it was a Euro. Saying no is easy, but the trust and generosity of this sport is one of the reasons I love it. I won't be changing that over a pump.

Luckily not all Euros are like that (neither do I believe they all drop stuff in the dunes). Most visitors bring in some much needed revenue for our state. And not all of us are coward punching pricks either. Or meth heads.
Good on you for not changing your attitude. I have a few pumps sitting around in the shed. Happy to give you one for free (brand new Ozone, does not have a gauge though). If you happen to be down our way.

I think the more likely scenario is that he just put in back in the wrong bag,
it's happened to me a couple of times,
fortunately I saw the guys choosing the wrong bag(not their own)

I once thought a guy stole my screwdriver, I later (much later) found that he'd he just put it in the zipper section of my bag that I don't use.

....or maybe the guy just stole your pump

I am equally excitable for the good old masculine sh$t fight in the pond mate
It's just that I arrived at an age where I don't think tolerance and generosity is gay. No tolerance from my side at my local though

Big thumbs up...people born and bred here fail to see that sometimes
Hopefully...as happens..he probably took it by accident but in this case...as he walked to the beach with no pump..and left with a pump...maybe exhilarated after a session...probably not
Sorry to hear that

My take on this
Smoking hot chick approaches upwind
Matey gets a whiff of her
She puts her sexiest look and accent on
May I borrow your pump
Quickly matey brain clicks into gear and says certainly, knowing he will gear a great view of her pear shaped cheeks,
Sucker he says to himself as he gloats
He dives his kite and rides of with a semi on
Sucker she says , and adds another pump to her collection
