a friend of mine and me are going to WA at the begining of november this year.
Starting in Perth , heading north through the outback ( karijini np etc. ) to port hedland.
then travelling south along the coastline back to germany.
We are looking for some nice flatwater spots but we will also not be sad about a 30knt + Megaloop Day.

Actually i think we will both bring our 7-9-12 Ozone C4 to WA. Should be a good set up on what i?m researching
so far.

Next Question for us is , weather it?s usefull to bring a wetsuit oder not?!?! I know that the ocean will be warmer
at port hedland in november and that it?s possible surfing without a wetsuit in perth in december ( christmas time/ new years eve) What do you think ? Wetsuit or not ?

Next thing , JELLIES! We both don?t know weather we should be scarred of such terrible small jellies or that it?s just a rumor. What are your experiences with those jellies along the coastline between Porthedland and Perth?


I know, lots of question so far, would be really help us if you can give some answers

Maybe just a spring suit ... or even better a short john.

If you get a chance get down to Augusta in the South West .. prob the best flat water in the state on its day ... usually better in Jan and Feb. on seabreeze check out Margaret River for forcasts and Cape Leeuwin for live readings..

The thing with Jellies is their numbers are weather dependant..... in Perth early Jan 2013 there were heaps of jellies......when there was no wind..... not as prevalent as Vietnam but something to be wary of....... and then its also dependant on the amount of time you spend sitting in the water.....so its a drag when your'e a beginner...... I bought a stinger suit, which is a full body suit like wearing a big stocking when I lived at Mission Beach, Queensland one year....... its the best investment ever made and Ive used it all over the world...... the jelly population is related to the food chain someone said turtle numbers others have said over fishing of their feeders...... but having been in the water all over the Pacific they are at epademic proportions. I worked in Indonesia on a private dive boat and I have never seen anything like it ....... not to mention the locals stings...keep your limbs covered...........

the key is with the sharks is to not fall off an you will be right ...same with stingers!

Damn i loved to kitesurf in cyprus. Nothing dangerous in the water, but some cute turtles.

But do you often hear from accdients of kitesurfers, surfer etc. with stingers and sharks around perth or along the westcoast?

to my knowledge, there has never been a kitesurfer taken by a shark in Australia
so don't worry about it

Well hopefully the sharks don?t like german folks... but such a small bit like liam got would be a great story for friends at home :D

7 is heaven in WA .....

all depends on how you like to ride, a nine edge was my smallest kite for a few years, on a summers day if your on the beach early you can ride a 17 all the way down to a 5 here in the midwest in the same day, had some great times on a bigger kite before the wind makes a mess of the ocean and waves, but then you can just go mental on 8 or 9 , imo if i had to choose a size a good depowering 9 would be my preference or a high powered 7, also depending on what water you like to ride, a good board in the chop in the midwest is a must, you dont need a board with great pop as the is enough balls in the wind and nature provides some perfect ramps

thanks cauncy!! we definatlty give you a shout when coming through dongara!! its just that dongara is on the way back to perth from hedland so maybe we arrive in mid december :) first we have to find a car quick next week to start up north.
