So if you are doing a down winder thru' floreat and you happen to see a clubbie between the flags waving a big flag with a cross on it, he isnt cheering on your radness, he wants you out of his zone.
Stay out of the flags. there is only one along there, go around. loads of coast to brighton.
Obey or we will lose the right to kite along there.
come on guys.

Mystifies me about riders doing downwinders in Perth. So much space out there compared to most places in the world. Yet, the local downwinder "heroes" blast through swimming zones, or other areas where there are swimmers, surfers and other kiters tacking. Already had two kite bumps with these ocean hogs. Calm down. Plenty of room out there to just head out the back and come back in on one of the other millions of waves on offer. Indeed...come on guys.

A couple of other spots to avoid:

- between the city beach groins
- in front of the amphitheater at scarbs (slsc to manning street)

If everyone could please cooperate and communicate the message we'll lower the risk of bans.

A guy in my downwind crew (friend of a friend) got chased down and scolded yesterday by surf life saving - they drive down the beach from Scarbs to Trigg to give him this scolding. He got too close at Scarbs. They told him they could fine him $1000 and confiscate his kite. And of course this could lead to more regulations.

Lots of ocean out there, and very few off limits areas - steer WAAY clear of the flags people!!

I cant believe this thread exists..

How dumb can people be kiting near swimmers who are swimming in a safe zone between the flags

I guess we have regulations because by nature human beings are thick as pig **

Four inconsiderate fools came through the flags at Swanbourne this afternoon. Guessing they had done the same at North Cott as their IRB was chasing them down. Im sure its 100m of shore dump you can afford to miss when downwinding!

Legends in their own lunchtimes. Had one such fool berate me on the water as I had failed to give way to his heroic self... even though he was upwind of me, he was in my blind spot and I was coming out from the beach and in the impact zone. Learn right of way rules, or first... just learn to be a decent human being and not a tiny pen8s with a kite and over compensating ego attached. :-)

Just a little polite advice for you fellas,

If you kite [or windsurf] anywhere near Swanbourne, take the time to look at a UBD road map - or marine chart of the area.

The safety zone for the Swanbourne rifle range extends out to sea.
When the rifle ranges are in use - this is a prohibited area.

There has been a continual problem for years with watercraft of all sorts crossing into the danger area [even the Leuween sail ship has been sprung dropping anchor during an episode of live fire]

Civilian use of Swanbourne range has now ceased - but the military are still blazing away with their 7.62mm and 5.56mm taxpayer funded toys, and sometimes even bigger stuff.

So, if you choose to ignore the beach sentries - don't complain if you find holes in your gear or end up cooling off in the SAS barracks brig.

have fun crew!
