Just a quick warning and reminder about break-ins at Woodman Point car park.
Last Monday I went out kiting at Woodman Point. Usually I've been out kiting at the furthest bays and parked past the pumping station where there are usually a lot of cars and fisher-people coming and going. But as the wind was easterly the inner bay was best and I parked in the second shallow car park on Woodman Point View.
Went kiting for an hour. Came back, grabbed my dry-bag from my car, went back to pack up my gear and came back to find my front passenger window had been smashed in, in the 10 minutes I had been gone. There was a silver car next to mine untouched. As I'd seen a number of posts on this forum already about break-ins in the area I'd hidden my phone and card so they didn't get anything valuable.
They opened the glove box and got nothing. They did however steal my clothes which were on the front seat.
So lesson learned. Don't even leave your clothes in a visible location in your car. As has been suggested elsewhere, keep it all in your kite-bag. I can't imagine anyone rummaging through it.
I can't imagine why the idiots wanted my undies, but there you go....
Thanks for sharing. Sorry to hear about your break in :( I used to park at that little car park, but was warned by local kiters never to park there, and only park at the large car park next to beach 2, because that other little car park gets such regular break ins :( These people must be very desperate to be stealing old clothes...
