I got the Nemesis on a hunch that it might be acool kite and BUGGER ME !! it ok too!

first up ,big disappointment !! my electric kite pump doesn't pump enough pressure into the kite
my pump only goes to 7.5 psi the nemesis needs at least 9 or 10psi !

DAY 1

so stats :
wind : about 15 -22 knots very gusty (cyclone conditions)
weather: squally rain and monsoonal trough lingering around
water : muddy and stinking from all the floods
board : blue and yellow one (underground)
undies : clean and a hint of deodorant (just in case)

i decided to use the 45 cm bar today to see what comparisons i can make between this and the EH BEAST and the 11 Waroo .

so pump it up and onto the beach for a self launch..set the rear line to 4 knots away from the kite, full depower on the strap and also set it on medium steering (a-b setting) ..
easy launch and no probs there... sweet
into the water and quick swoop and off i go ..very smooth and no surprises (YET)

first thing i notice is the difference in turning .. my old habits is to sheet out ,grab the line just above the handle and give it a yank , then grab the bar as the kite swings across in front of me .. well i cant do that now !! it damn near went into a kite loop straight off!! FAAARK THIS TURNS FAST!

so i test the up wind ability ..usually i can do a small figure 8 pattern (11 Waroo) to get a tight ride up wind ..but this time all i need to do is park the kite low and sheet in and out and i can cut a very fine line up wind. the kite runs towards the edge of the window and i sheet in and power up, cruise up a bit then sheet out again and repeat the process.. so easy .

so jumping ... Mmmm very nice i can do a low sideways jump by applying a medium amount of pressure on the bar ...... or,I can turn the kite towards zenith and pull hard to get vertical lift!! once i am up in the air i can keep a small figure 8 pattern happening and gain more float time ! COOL!!

bad thing : if you sheet out to quickly (in the middle of a jump), it over flies and ends up more up wind than you !!

next, gusty conditions: well ..the fact that there is 6 pulleys on the front SLE bridle actually makes a difference ... so what i could see what was happening was when a gust hits, the kite transfers line pressure from inner bridle to the outer area (i think i got it in the right way) which changes the Angle of attack(AOA) and releases pressure off the kite into the rear of the kite .
any ways , it doesn't hold the gusts, it softens them so you can just sheet out a bit and you get no jerking sensation through the front lines .

all in all a good ride in very crappy conditions

bad points :
a big effort to pump up
LOTS of pulleys to maintain and a lot of lines that can possibly fray or snap.
still no new bar from Best to go with it
still a crappy system on the QR on the chicken loop
the bag has got some issues and too many "things" on it

good points :
strong and durable
very easy to fly
quick to readjust riding technique (me)
self landing is as easy as the EH Beast and the Waroo
can be used on any 4 line de-powerable bar
GREAT for surf riding too!
next up day 2.....light winds

WEEELLL ..after 5 days of no kiting i was itching to fly ANYTHING!! so got up yesterday morning and the wind had shifted back to the east
so as the day DRAAAGGGEEEDDD along till after lunch when i could escape.
anyways.. 2 pm and the wind was just on 8-10 knots
so about 4 pm the white caps started to get a bit thicker and i thought STUFF it i am going to get wet.[}:)]
i pumped up the 12 nemesis thinking this won't get me out of the water let alone a ride

put the rear lines on the closest setting to the kite and launched the kite ..

now i reckon it must have picked up to about 12 knots because as it shot up to zenith i puled in the bar and lofted about 2 meters off the sand and hung around for a couple of seconds
FAARRRKKK !! i couldn't grab my board and get into the water quick enough!!
i was in about 4 inches of water when i chucked the board in the water and just jumped straight on and took off!!
i thought to my self ..this is crazy !! i would need a 15 meter to ride this wind!!

so i just had a blast !!
i cut up wind ,back rolled, inverted (body), nose grab and just did whatever i felt like !!

the more i pushed the kite to fly faster ,the more speed it would generate and more power it could deliver !!

i don't mean sining the kite (figure 8 pattern) i mean just flying it ! the floats i was getting were not Spectacular but still up there with and average ride . not as much pop but it was ONLY 12 knots!

at one moment, i pulled a double back roll and landed akwardly .. looked up the see the kite rocketing towards to the water so i pulled in the bar and gave it a quick yank on one line and bugger me !! it was like mission impossible !! it just stopped just off the water and turned on its axis!!and went across the top of the water WOW !!

so any ways went back to kiting and then i went a$$ up in another jump popped up out if the water thinking this is the first time this kite has hit the water ..COOL ! i get to relaunch it ! .as got my feet back into the board i grabed the bar and look at the kite it is already sitting up on its wing tip ready to launch now how tha hell did it do that? so anyway pulled the line and away it went .
(Maybe I have a possessed kite!)

so after about an hour of sheer FUN i realise that the wind had dropped off and i actually had to start working the kit to get a ride ..i look around and realise there is BUGGERALL whit caps !! so i head to shore grab a beer and thank every one for watching me (cricket starts chirping ). what an arvo
