Hi dude, cant really help with the bow versus foil issue but I fly bows (switchblades) and deciding if I will get a 5 meter pulse for the high winds in the surf ,so i went surfing (excuse the pun)and found you can get more info off
http://www.foilzone.com and
www.racekites.com/reviews/listReviews.asp?companyName=Flysurfer regarding foils particularly the flysurfer brand.
couple of points with bows and especially if your going out in surf and that is at least with the 06 ones you can have inversions, not a problem when cruising and learning tricks or just learning to kite and having the kite falling from the sky but in the waves your pushed towards a down kite which can result in an inversion. Not hard to fix but then the lines are crossed and you have to come in to stuff about fixing that (well you dont but you should heheh), but I think from thelack of net info the pulse hasn't got that problem. Bare in mind I am speaking from the first generation of bow's havnt heard this being a problem on the new seasons bows i.e. xbow.
What I have read off reviews the pulse is super easy to relaunch, so are bows though not withstanding any inversion of course. Anyhow more guys suited to give you info about foils than I.
I am happy flying my bows in the waves because of the depth of depower, but as stated am interested going down the foil path as well - seen one guy unroll his kite, hook in and launch while I was still pumping up my second strut.... C kiters may go on how bows and foils are gay and blah, blah, blah and most of those are 16 year olds that cant afford the new gear anyhow, but ultimately it depends on what you want to do and how you wish to ride and if you give or least how much you give a hoot about anyone else's opinion. Like mine for example .. heheh
