has anyone tried running the predator surf straps backwards so that the open end faces forward? i reckon they could be easier to slip in and out of when you shift your weight but maybe you could come out too easy?

Some guys at margaret river reverse the back strap so they can slot their foot back into the strap. I have heard of a board in Qld where the front strap is reversed. However, if you look at a set of Predator straps there is a front and back foot, labelled underneath, and they suit the different shapes of your inner and outer foot. They are designed for directionals and that is why they mount the recommended way but every one has their own opinion and right to mount them how they see fit. Personally I set mine forward of a normal strap position so I can plane fast and then step back to ride a wave out of the straps and then move forward again to jump or go through a critical section. They take a few rides to get used to but any jump or aerial that is done on a surfboard is possible in these straps. There is now demo straps nearly all around Oz so if you want to see some for real pm me and I will put you in touch with where to go.

Yeh I've set the front strap in reverse only because one of the front plugs has been ripped out of the board, still works fine.

I had pluges put in my board because the deck was trashed and had no flat area to glue the habitat inserts.
