being quad & 5'8" I would say small waves, but I'm no expert.

The photo that i saw also looked as though they had channels on the bottom. What dose this do to a kite board? - better for clean tubes???

Do you mean the Fish quad or the Global quad?

Think you mean the custom Fish 5'8"
Had a 2011 until March, traded it for a 6'0" WAM.
I only used the board for downwinders and as a lightwind option, plenty of fun snappy and slidy, it was suited to sloppy perth conditions but you really would want something thinner and faster with sharper rails (like the Naish Gun) if you were going to margs or up north, but was heaps of fun for leighton to brighton downwinders.
And at 5'8" it will fit in a falcon, accross the back seat.

It actually rides alot bigger than 5'8". It's a fast board. It's pretty heavy at 4.5 kg. Lay it into a full rail turn & it's like it's on rails & bites hard. Only good for small waves or mush. I had the back pad 30mm further back. For me the rear strap positions are ridiculously too far fwd. About the only change from the previous model seems to be the addition of the channels, & I'd suspect it's more a cosmetic thing. It's loads of fun within it's range, but not something you would paddle surf as well. Comes with quality fins, DFS, & a decent board bag.
cheers
