hi my name is steve new to the sport just wondering if anyone can tell me if you have herd of a (Cabrinha Double Agent )and if so is it a good board for a beginner its 55 inchs or 142 cm..........thx Rider: Weight 180,Level (beginner, Style: Weather: 11-20 knots Build Quality: Satisfaction:
The Cabrinha double agent was a new board in about 2004 if my memory serves me well. It was an average board back in the day and by todays standards it would be a real pig. They were VERY stiff and unforgiving which would make it a rough ride on the knees. They were also longer than they were wide in relation to modern day boards. The pressed rails were sharp and fins were basic.
Unless the board is free and you are strapped for cash, I think you can do better. It will do the job if you are hard pressed but don't pay money for it.
so what do you mean unforgiving just so i understand what makes the board so bad (in what sense )...its stiffness? is what makes it unforgiving...yes?...do you need your board to be more on the flexable side...is that the idea
The Double agent was a narrow board for it's length which means it needs to be riden a bit faster than a wider board. The boards pre-07 were pretty much all VERY stiff. They have no "give" in them and instead bang and crash their way across the chop.
Usually a good board with reasonable flex will absorb the chop giving a smooth and controlled ride. The late model boards have a thin rail and flex which edges well.
The older footstraps tend to be uncomfortable and have deck grip as opposed to foot pads. The Cab DA was also quite heavy.
You can ride the board if you want, but your learning will progress much faster and more enjoyably if you have something 2008 onwards.
