My Comments: i currently own a 2010 edge 9m love the kite but i weigh 90kgs
and am looking at getting 11m maybe 2013 but they have gone to 5 struts
has the 2013 gone to a lower aspect and more of a race kite

witch of kite jumps higher and is more suited for free riding does the 09 edge jump higher and more stable or does the 2013 edge jump better because of faster flying speed and aparrent wind

cheers like to hear if some has flown both so i can decide wearther its worth upgrading

Yo, matty I've upgraded each year with the 9 and 11 combos since their release apart from 2012 to 2013, just didn't feel the need after testing, the 2011 was a huge leap from your model, bigger boosts lighter bar, better depower, much quicker in the turn and on the water, they dropped a few struts and lightened the construction which makes it drift better, its still not great in the waves but a lot better than the 2010s mainly down to the depower, my 11 is my fave kite out of my edges especially in the boost department, if your looking at getting a 2013 id consider the new 10mtr as it'd be the perfect size imo , I bloody love my edges

I did a session on eppo's 2013 11m edge this weekend. My impression compared to my 2010 11m and 13m edges is that the 2013 is much much much easier to fly. Its faster to turn has more depower and is generally a lot better kite for general use.

But its lost some of the animal in it. Its no longer a wild beast that you must tame.

Hi matt I have both the 9 and 11 2013. Covers 90 percent of the winds I kite in. Can't comment on the change from 2010 sorry.

What winds and what board do you use and where? Also is it only one kite you are looking for?

Reason I ask is the 11 versus 10 situation. As cauncy has said and those that ride the 9 and 11 would agree the 10m would be the ideal size for free riding in this design. But at 90kg what low end are you looking for. This depends of course on the way I. Which you answer the questions above.

Have thought long and hard about swapping the 9 and 11 for a 10 but the 11 gets me powered where I kite in too many days down here. Also with a skim I'm now getting out in ridiculous winds.

Thing is the 10m would have the turning speed advantages of the 9 but the canopy and float of the 11.

i have 132/41 monk and kite at at mulaloo but regularly get up to lancelin wedge love it up there

yeah that would great eppo but my 9m is in mint condition but would be good and be able to hold the 10m down till the low 30s i recon

They must of improved them a lot cos my 9m feels smooth as cant wait
probley go with the 11

Righto so keeping the 9m then, well yes the 11m is the go.

Needs a bit more attention when launching to gain the vertical height of the 9m except in its upper range where any idiot with enough balls will go high.

But the hang time is far better and you will glide a long way on the horizontal plane before landing. Much more forgiving on the landing part. Also prefer the 11m in the surf.

The 11m is my main kite, get yourself an efficient board such as a skim also and you will be out and powered in lightish winds for a big fella on an 11m, the edge loves efficient boards.

And it also loves the monk....perfect combo there!

imo theyve always been a smooth kite mat , you should of come up with the mullas crew a couple of weeks ago you could of taken my 9 for a run, one thing i will say is the construction although superb is a bit less robust than the 2010s, but the way it flys is the reason for that

what about edge 11 + foil board ??

Was that last Sunday? Awesome day. I would think air traffic control should of been notified with you 2 out.

Where did you guys kite? Who boosted highest?

Was at secret harbour but we were not setting any height records. Wind wasn't there for that, plus plummett was holding back riding someone else's gear...yeh plummett I could tell and thanks.

I was only on the 9m and mako king so was more wave riding than boosting.

The WA wind gods were not generous, kind, but not generous.

indeed. i didn't want to drop the kite into that shore break. So no crazy antics. different board, different kite, different beach... plus some jetlag overtiredness ment i was flying like pooos. so i just took it easy.

Eppo was getting good height on the 9 for the light wind.

I have a full scan every year 3 bit removed and all clear and hope to stay clear.
Watched a bloke out on an edge today at Cott light weight but was the best out there for wind quantity, bit light for us fatt Bastereds.
Forgot to put the 16m inn the scooter.

it was a magical day on my 15m edge on the river today . clocked just under 60km according to the watch

Yep 11m edge cranking upwind to local surf spot on just a mako 140. Both my bro and I. Weird wind though was gutless, on and off. Guy put a 14m up no banana gotta love the apparent wind build up the edges. Knocks every other kite dead in its tracks when you gotta stay upwind. Well maybe not every kite but leave me alone in my edge world okay.

Ps and remember down here you can take a fair bit off the wind you guys had up there. ****in wind hole I tell ya!!!

When i was in Pentridge Jail all those years ago i found out what a good time was.
You will never know when i will be right behind you.

The only issue with secret harbour is all the bogan town sites you have to go through to get there but on its day a great spot, do get down there so watch out for the pink scooter.
