Hey everyone

I've got a 2008 7m north evo and a 2012 9m north rebel, but use the same bar for both (2012 5th element).

Im considering buying the 2013 bar, mainly as there is meant to be less wear on depower line (wear on the de-power line on the 2012 bar seems a lot for the amount of use), and the improvements on the de-power cleat for changing the power while kiting (de-power strap has a bit of a habit of tangling around the centre line on the 2012 bar, which makes it hard to adjust the lines while kiting (however this may reflect my capabilities and not the design)).

Anyway, I was just wondering if anyone has tried it out yet, and what you think of it. What was good, and what wasn't?

Cheers!
Elise

ps: Apologies if this is in the wrong section, I wasn't sure if I should place it here as the question is about new gear, or in the newbies/general section as I want advice .

Rode the 9m 2013 Rebel with the new bar. Own the 2011 bar myself. Nice grip, softer padding on the bar ends, absolutely less friction on the depower rope! Cam cleat works nice too. Small butt usefull differences

How so? I believe the Naish bar is about the same price, or has it changed for 2013? $599 if i'm not mistaken and the Cab bar's were only about $50 cheaper.

Unless you go with a cheapy brand (Hyundai vs BMW) you're going to be paying a fair amount for a bar. Last I checked most bars were $500-$600 (excluding any customer discounts individuals may be able to negotiate).

Well once I've got my car fixed I'm happy to save and pay for it. Anyone else used it yet?

how so..? :/ $600 isnt alot of money to you for a piece of metal wait plastic now! and some strings?

I know i know its the industry blah blah and i dont really want to make a whole thing out of it, but i find it odd you ask me personally to answer for the price of north bars when i had so many problems with my 012 sets last season..i only target north because i feel like they where over charging last year for something that didnt live up to the hype and now have increased the price again considerably!

im also a little jealous cos it does look immensely awesome but no way in hell i could justify the price hike this year on tradesmen wages.

To pay $550 last year approximately for a bar that didn't even last the season, pretty lame. The bar was nice when it was new, I could understand the jack up in price if north where giving you a 1 year warranty, on the bar anyway I know it gets a little hard when you start talking lines. The canopy Is the best no doubt but, the bar last year a joke, maybe north should do a trade in a defective 2012 bar and get half price of the 2013

Simply stating that in relation to Naish & Cab, the bar is the same price and not considerably higher than other brands.

I have 10 and 8 meter north rebels. Rode the 2013 rebel yesterday. New bar is awesome. So comfy and looks like its built to last. And like last year the kite is awesome.
