Hi all, as a newbie and looking at buying some 2nd hand gear, would this item be ok or is it to old. I know I'm going to be rough on first kite, hence not wanting to spend $1000 plus on first kite. I'm 6'2 and 100kg.
Cheers all.

As always, you'll get only what you pay for. Good chance that old gear like this will have issues, unless you know what you're looking for, but you're new so you won't.

A much better idea is to speak to your instructor about hooking you up some second hand, superseded or ex demo gear.

The gear in that picture is about 8 or 9 years old. That should tell you something...

And the one right under this, now extinct ad, is....

a 9M Wipika from 2002? - the absolute worst style of kite you could imagine being offered for sale to anyone. But this one is offered as "ideal for beginners' WTF
Someone should jail these Rsoles that put a $200 money grab in front of any responsibility for the lives of others or for the sport of kiting itself.
I just sent the seller a message alerting him to his scum-bag-ness. Perhaps if everyone reading this did the same he may just be sufficiently shamed to recognise the consequences of his miserly selfishness.
